Founded in 1975, TÜMOSAN began its operations as Türkiye's first domestically produced tractor factory. In 2004, it was privatized and became part of Albayrak Holding. TÜMOSAN has an annual production capacity of 45,000 tractors and 75,000 engines. It holds a 15% share in the Turkish tractor market and a 23% share in the diesel engine market.
Initially, production began under a license agreement with Italian Fiat Industry, which lasted until 1988. Since then, the company has continued its manufacturing operations entirely with domestic technology. The company’s diesel engine and tractor production facilities are located in Konya.
In 2014, TÜMOSAN won the tender to supply the engines for Türkiye's first domestically produced tank, Altay, earning the right to produce its engines.
TÜMOSAN was included in the privatization program in August 1998, with shares owned by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) transferred to the Privatization Administration.
A tender held in 2000 was inconclusive, and the company was transferred to Sümer Holding in 2003. Due to uncertainty during this period, production activities weakened between 1998 and 2004.
Following a second tender in 2004, an agreement was reached with Albayrak Holding, and the company was officially privatized. Since then, TÜMOSAN has steadily developed its operations in the production of tractors and diesel engines, and has become one of the leading companies in its field in Türkiye today.
