Established in Gebze in 1972, Sedef Shipyard continues its activities in Tuzla Shipyards Region, where it moved in 1990. Since its establishment, more than two hundred projects have been signed, and since 2000, it has been operating under the roof of Turkon Holding, which belongs to the Kalkavan family, one of the well-established families of Turkish maritime.

The foundations of Turkon Holding were laid with the transition of the Kalkavan family to ship management in 1954, and over time, leading brands such as Turkon Line in the field of container transportation and Sedef Shipyard in the shipbuilding sector were brought to Turkish maritime.

Sedef Shipyard, which is the largest private shipyard in Türkiye in terms of area and capacity, carries out production in the Tuzla campus of 194,000 m², of which 51,000 m² is closed, and in the Orhanlı support area of 76,000 m², of which 12,000 m² is closed.

Thus, production is carried out on a total area of 270,000 m². Sedef Shipyard, which has an annual shipbuilding capacity of 600,000 DWT (capesize), has one of the largest dry docks in Türkiye, which allows the construction of ships up to 180,000 DWT. It is stated that loads of 1,050 tons can be lifted on the dry dock and 500 tons on the dock.

Not only projects are carried out in the shipyard; At the same time, respect for the sea, the environment and people is prioritized. In this direction, it is stated that Türkiye's largest environmentally friendly indoor paint halls are also within the structure.

After being incorporated into Turkon Holding, Know-How and Technical Assistance Agreements were made; Technology investments were increased.

With investments exceeding two hundred and fifty million dollars and more than two thousand employees, Sedef Shipyard has become one of the most modern shipyards in Europe.

In terms of competence and infrastructure, a wide range of services are offered, such as military and commercial new shipbuilding, ship conversion projects, special steel constructions and industrial projects.

With nearly fifty years of experience, the leading position in the sector continues to be reinforced.
