Founded in 2006 by the Kalafatoğlu Family from Sürmene, Trabzon, ARES Shipyard initially began operations with the production of small leisure boats and yachts. Following the experience gained in aluminum, steel, and composite boat manufacturing, the board of directors made a strategic decision to shift towards the defense industry, specializing in the production of military, semi-military, and utility vessels. In line with this shift, significant investments were made in human resources, organizational management, integrated logistics support, quality systems, and production technologies. Within a short period, the company successfully exported naval platforms for military and security purposes to numerous countries, including Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Nigeria, Georgia, Tanzania, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Turkmenistan.

ARES Shipyard holds the NATO and National Confidential Facility Security Clearance, Military Shipbuilding Production License issued by the Ministry of National Defense, and is certified with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 quality management standards. It delivers services for national projects to various institutions, most notably the Turkish Naval Forces and Turkish Coast Guard Command.
