The ATMACA Anti-Ship Missile is a long-range, high-precision cruise missile developed by Roketsan to meet the requirements of modern naval warfare. First unveiled at IDEF 2019, ATMACA was designed to replace the Harpoon missiles currently in service with the Turkish Naval Forces, representing a major milestone in Türkiye’s indigenous missile development capability.
With an operational range of 220–280 kilometers, ATMACA features low radar cross-section characteristics, advanced guidance algorithms, and strong resistance to electronic countermeasures, enabling effective performance in highly contested environments. The missile is equipped with INS/GPS-supported navigation, an active radar seeker, and a mid-course data link, providing high target accuracy and re-targeting capability during flight.
ATMACA is currently powered by the TR40 turbojet engine, with future variants planned to integrate the domestically developed KTJ-3200 turbojet engine by Kale ARGE. This transition aims to further reduce foreign dependency while strengthening Türkiye’s national supply chain and logistical sustainability.
In addition to naval platforms, ATMACA plays a key role within the Barbaros Coastal Defense System, offering land-based anti-ship engagement capability. A land-to-land variant is also designed to enhance coastal defense and protect critical maritime zones. The missile’s integration into various Turkish Navy platforms, particularly within the MİLGEM framework, significantly enhances the deterrence and strike power of Türkiye’s naval forces.
