The YALMAN weapon system has made its operational debut during the Turkish Armed Forces’ (TSK) Operation Claw-Lock, showcasing Türkiye’s innovative and versatile defense technologies. Developed by ROKETSAN, YALMAN stands out with its modular design, allowing it to launch different types of missiles from the same platform, significantly expanding operational capabilities.
The system is capable of firing L-UMTAS, UMTAS, and 70mm CİRİT missiles, making it highly effective against armored and lightly armored targets on the battlefield. Additionally, work is underway to integrate the SUNGUR low-altitude air defense missile, which would further broaden its mission profile. Thanks to its flexible configuration, YALMAN is not only suitable for land operations but also adaptable for deployment on naval platforms.
Defense industry researcher Ahmet Alemdar highlighted that YALMAN’s deployment could play a strategic role in potential operations in northern Syria, giving TSK a decisive advantage. Beyond its firepower, YALMAN also enhances surveillance and target acquisition, boosting overall operational efficiency.
Particularly against the PKK/YPG terrorist organization’s armored and lightly armored vehicles, YALMAN provides an effective countermeasure. As a result, it is seen as a game-changer in the field, strengthening TSK’s superiority with its combination of offensive and reconnaissance capabilities.
The introduction of this system reflects Türkiye’s ability to develop indigenous, cutting-edge military technologies and deliver practical battlefield solutions that shift the balance in its favor.
