Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has taken another major step in expanding its international footprint by signing a strategic cooperation agreement with the Brazilian aerospace company Embraer. The memorandum of understanding, formalized during the LAAD 2025 Defense and Security Exhibition in Brazil, paves the way for joint research, engineering, and production activities in both civil and military aviation sectors.
Turkey’s Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır announced the collaboration via social media, noting that the partnership stemmed from a visit to Brazil in September 2024. “We remain determined to strengthen the global presence of Turkey’s aviation industry through international partnerships,” Kacır said. The agreement represents not only a technological collaboration but also a diplomatic and industrial bridge between the two nations, enabling TUSAŞ to extend its expertise beyond domestic projects like ANKA, HÜRJET, GÖKBEY, and KAAN.
In a statement, TUSAŞ emphasized that the partnership will enhance cooperation between the two companies through shared production efforts and open new opportunities in R&D and engineering. Combining Embraer’s vast experience in regional jets, light transport, and trainer aircraft with TUSAŞ’s growing portfolio in UAVs, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft promises to create a powerful synergy in aerospace innovation
This agreement also reflects Turkey’s broader defense strategy focused on co-development and joint production with allied nations. The collaboration not only increases TUSAŞ’s visibility in Latin America but also opens the door for joint certification, technology transfer, and co-marketing of platforms to third countries. Furthermore, by expanding cooperation into the civil aviation sector, TUSAŞ continues to demonstrate its capability to compete alongside major global players in both defense and commercial markets.
