BREAKING NEWS
HÜRJET, Türkiye’s first domestically produced supersonic jet-powered trainer and light attack aircraft, has achieved another milestone in its development journey. Designed and manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), HÜRJET conducted its maiden flight in 2023 and has since completed 43 successful test flights. These trials have provided valuable data for design improvements and the verification of operational capabilities.
Developed under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and engineered by TUSAŞ, HÜRJET has already reached 0.6 Mach during its test program, demonstrating significant aerodynamic and engine performance. Upcoming test phases will push the aircraft to supersonic speeds, further expanding its operational capacity. With its dual-seat cockpit, HÜRJET is specifically designed to serve as an advanced trainer for fighter pilots, while also capable of fulfilling light combat roles.
Emergency go-around trials and operational evaluations have confirmed the aircraft’s safety and training potential. According to TUSAŞ’s production plan, initial serial manufacturing will produce six to seven aircraft annually, later ramping up to 24 per year. The first deliveries are expected to begin in 2025, significantly boosting the Turkish Air Force’s training and operational capabilities.
Comprising nearly 8,000 components, HÜRJET features a single-engine tandem cockpit design, capable of reaching speeds of Mach 1.4 and operating at altitudes up to 45,000 feet. It can carry up to 3 tons of payload across seven external hardpoints, enabling both training and light combat missions. Its historic flight alongside the Turkish Stars aerobatic team proved that HÜRJET is not only an advanced training aircraft but also a platform capable of excelling in aerobatics and demonstration flights.
