The 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul once again became the stage for Türkiye’s growing defense industry to demonstrate its technological power and innovation capacity. Hosted by the Ministry of National Defense and supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), the fair featured the latest breakthroughs from Türkiye’s leading defense giants, including Roketsan, ASELSAN, STM, BMC, HAVELSAN, and FNSS.
Among the most striking debuts was Roketsan’s TAYFUN BLOK-4 hypersonic ballistic missile, measuring 10 meters in length and weighing 7,200 kilograms. Capable of reaching hypersonic speeds—five times the speed of sound—TAYFUN BLOK-4 became the centerpiece of the exhibition. Roketsan also unveiled several other systems for the first time, including the AKATA-capsuled ATMACA, GÖKBORA beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, EREN loitering munition, 300 ER ballistic missile, and the Şimşek-2 satellite launch vehicle.
ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading electronics and radar systems provider, introduced the CENK 350-N radar, designed for naval platforms. The system provides high-resolution target detection and classification, contributing to the modernization of Türkiye’s maritime defense network. The company also displayed its GÖKSUR VLS vertical launch air defense system, DERİNGÖZ 100L/300 autonomous underwater vehicle, and IDENTIFFY SSR 850 identification system.
On the naval side, STM presented the model of Türkiye’s first national corvette, marking a major milestone in domestic shipbuilding. Designed for surface warfare and coordinated operations with frigates and helicopters, the corvette features stealth capabilities and can execute long-range missile strikes while remaining undetected in standby positions.
The land systems segment was led by BMC, which unveiled three new vehicles: the Zeybek Vehicle Family (including tank transporters and tactical trucks), the TURAN armored personnel carrier, and the ALTUĞ 8x8 armored vehicle with a 105mm turret. The company also displayed two indigenous BMC Power engines for the first time. The PARS İZCİ 8x8 armored combat vehicle, which led the IDEF parade, became the first 8x8 vehicle officially added to the Turkish Armed Forces inventory.
HAVELSAN focused on artificial intelligence with its theme “AI for Defence,” showcasing multi-domain command-control architectures, AI-supported decision systems, and manned-unmanned teaming technologies. Meanwhile, Repkon unveiled a 12.7x99mm indigenous heavy machine gun, and Karel Defense Technologies introduced next-generation solutions such as a 5G private mobile network and the MOBAT operational headset system.
Also making their first appearances were Roketsan’s ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System, FNSS’s hybrid KAPLAN vehicle integration, and Nurol Makina’s eNMS-L, described as “the electric military vehicle of the future.”
IDEF 2025 not only showcased Türkiye’s ability to develop critical defense technologies domestically but also positioned the nation as a rising global player capable of shaping the future of land, air, and naval warfare systems.
