BREAKING NEWS
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye’s defense industry played a vital role in humanitarian relief efforts by mobilizing its technological capabilities and resources. Coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries, 78 different types of technological equipment—including underground imaging systems, through-wall radars, and specialized cameras—were deployed to detect survivors under rubble and accelerate search and rescue operations.
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from the inventories of the Turkish Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior provided live aerial footage of the disaster zone to emergency coordination centers, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of rescue missions. Additionally, nearly 1,800 generators were delivered to the region, helping to restore power and meet urgent energy needs.
Defense industry companies also coordinated with AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) to deliver trucks carrying food and essential supplies to affected areas. Beyond material aid, volunteer teams and technical personnel from the defense sector contributed directly to search, rescue, and logistical operations. Financial donations and humanitarian support further addressed the immediate needs of survivors.
This extraordinary response demonstrated that Türkiye’s defense industry possesses not only military strength but also significant humanitarian and disaster relief capabilities. The use of advanced technologies in civilian emergencies highlighted the country’s capacity for rapid and effective crisis response, strengthening both resilience and public trust.
