BREAKING NEWS
Turkish and Belgian defence industry representatives have signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration in defence and aviation technologies. The agreements were signed during a ceremony held as part of the Belgian Economic Mission’s visit to Türkiye, bringing together leading companies and industry organizations from both countries.
A total of six memorandums of understanding were signed during the event. Among the Turkish companies involved were major defence industry players such as ASELSAN, TUSAŞ and FNSS. The agreements are expected to create new opportunities in areas including defence technologies, aviation, innovation, armored vehicle solutions, electronic systems and joint market development.
One of the key agreements was signed between SAHA Istanbul and Agoria BSDI. This memorandum aims to promote cooperation in defence and aviation innovation while strengthening ties between the defence industries of Türkiye and Belgium. It is expected to establish a framework for joint research activities, technology cooperation and the exchange of business practices between the two countries’ defence ecosystems.
Another significant agreement was signed between FNSS and Belgium-based John Cockerill Defense SA. The two companies plan to cooperate in existing and new markets, develop market opportunities together and offer solutions tailored to the needs of users in different regions. Through this cooperation, FNSS and John Cockerill Defense reaffirmed their shared commitment to providing high-quality armored vehicle solutions to customers worldwide.
The ceremony also included agreements between companies operating in specialized technology and production fields. Memorandums were signed between BTMco and ABC, ALTUNA International Engineering and New Lachaussee, TUSAŞ and SONACA, as well as ASELSAN and XO Advanced Systems. These agreements are expected to expand cooperation opportunities across different levels of the defence and aviation supply chain.
The agreement between TUSAŞ and SONACA is particularly important for strengthening technical cooperation in the aviation industry. Possible areas of collaboration may include aerostructures, engineering solutions, production capabilities and future joint projects. Meanwhile, the memorandum between ASELSAN and XO Advanced Systems could create new partnership opportunities in electronic systems, advanced technologies and defence applications.
The agreements signed during the Belgian Economic Mission’s visit also demonstrate Türkiye’s growing international influence in the defence industry. In recent years, the Turkish defence sector has achieved notable progress in land systems, electronic systems, aviation, unmanned platforms and munitions. Strategic partnerships with European companies show that Turkish firms are increasingly active not only in product exports but also in joint development, technology sharing and access to global markets.
The six strategic memorandums signed between Türkiye and Belgium are expected to support long-term industrial cooperation between the two countries. By focusing on joint research, technology cooperation, armored vehicle solutions, aviation production and electronic systems, the agreements could increase the visibility of Turkish companies in the European defence market while giving Belgian firms access to Türkiye’s strong manufacturing and engineering capabilities.
These cooperation steps also reflect the growing importance of joint production and technology sharing in the global defence industry. The agreements signed by Turkish and Belgian defence industry representatives create a strong foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation and may lead to future joint projects, export-oriented solutions and new technology development activities.
