BREAKING NEWS
Turkey has achieved another significant milestone in its ballistic missile development efforts. The TAYFUN Short-Range Ballistic Missile System, developed by Roketsan, successfully completed a new test launch in Rize. The launch took place at 12:37 p.m., with the Rize-Artvin Airport and surrounding areas secured under strict safety measures before ignition. According to initial reports, the missile’s flight and trajectory data met all expected parameters, marking another step forward in Turkey’s growing long-range strike capabilities.
The Rize location has served as a consistent testing ground for the TAYFUN system, with previous successful launches conducted on October 18, 2022, and May 23, 2023. This latest test represents the continuation of a structured development campaign focused on validating the missile’s propulsion, guidance, and control systems under real-world conditions. Each test refines the missile’s accuracy, stability, and integration with command and control infrastructures, moving the program closer to operational readiness and serial production.
Beyond its technical significance, TAYFUN symbolizes Turkey’s steady progress toward independent and layered defense capability. The missile’s integration into the nation’s broader air and missile defense network enhances deterrence and strategic flexibility, while also showcasing the maturity of Turkey’s indigenous defense ecosystem. Roketsan’s continued validation and system optimization efforts signal that Turkey’s ballistic missile program is advancing in both technological sophistication and operational confidence.
