BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry continues to advance, not only through its major aircraft and missile projects but also with its growing expertise in critical subsystems. One of the most remarkable examples of this progress is TAAC — the company that developed and produced the landing gear systems for the National Combat Aircraft KAAN and advanced jet trainer HÜRJET, entirely with domestic resources. With this achievement, TAAC has joined the ranks of a handful of companies worldwide capable of manufacturing complete aircraft landing gear systems.
TAAC General Manager Enis Ata explained that the company was founded to develop infrastructure systems for air platforms, including aircraft landing gears, flight control actuators, and sophisticated testing systems. According to Ata, landing gear systems are among the two most critical subsystems of an aircraft, alongside the engine. Since landing gears bear the entire weight of an aircraft during landing, they require extremely high reliability and precision. Unlike many global manufacturers that rely on subcontractors for various components, TAAC designs and produces every single element in-house, giving Türkiye a rare technological edge.
As the development programs for KAAN and HÜRJET continue at full speed, TAAC has already prepared for the upcoming mass production phase. The company is closely coordinating with Türkiye’s aerospace authorities to ensure readiness for the anticipated surge in production, expected to begin after the 2026 test flights. This readiness strengthens Türkiye’s ability to compete internationally with fully independent and locally sourced technologies.
TAAC’s systems are also expected to play a crucial role in future aircraft exports. In the potential sale of HÜRJET to Spain and other countries, the fact that its landing gear is entirely Turkish-made adds major value. Moreover, TAAC has already signed a contract with a Middle Eastern nation to design and produce landing gear systems and is currently in discussions with several other countries across three or four continents. According to Enis Ata, the company expects to announce additional export deals in the near future.
This success not only enhances Türkiye’s defense self-sufficiency but also reinforces its position as a global technology provider. TAAC’s rise demonstrates the capability and confidence of Turkish engineering — a clear indicator that Türkiye is becoming a key player in the world’s aerospace and defense markets.
