BREAKING NEWS
The military cooperation between Türkiye and Montenegro has taken a new step forward with a significant defense contribution. Under the Military Financial Cooperation Agreement (AMIBA) signed in 2019, Türkiye has donated three military vehicles to Montenegro. The delivery included two logistics vehicles and one fuel tanker, all supplied by BMC, one of Türkiye’s leading defense industry manufacturers. The official handover ceremony took place at the Marko Miljanov Popovic Barracks in Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital.
During the ceremony, Montenegro’s Interior Minister Filip Adzic emphasized that Türkiye’s support reflects the importance it places on the Montenegrin army. Stressing that as NATO members, both countries must strengthen their defense cooperation, Adzic highlighted the contribution of this donation to Montenegro’s defense capacity. Türkiye’s Ambassador to Podgorica, Barış Kalkavan, pointed out that the localization rate of the Türkiye defense industry has reached nearly 80 percent and expressed Ankara’s commitment to further cooperation with Montenegro.
Beyond the delivery of vehicles, Ambassador Kalkavan also announced that Türkiye’s military schools are preparing to accept students from Montenegro, broadening cooperation in training and education. The delivery was formalized through a protocol signed between the Türkiye Military Attaché in Podgorica and a representative of the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense.
This development is seen as a concrete example of Türkiye’s strategy to strengthen military ties with NATO allies, while also showcasing the growing presence of the Türkiye defense industry in the international arena. For Montenegro, these vehicles will not only enhance the army’s logistical capacity but also underline the importance of allied support in national defense and security.
