BREAKING NEWS
STM is set to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region by participating in Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur. According to STM’s official announcement, the company will attend the exhibition from April 20 to 23, 2026, where it plans to present its naval platforms and field-proven unmanned systems to regional defense decision-makers and industry stakeholders. DSA itself describes the event as one of Asia’s major defense and homeland security exhibitions, hosted in Kuala Lumpur at MITEC.
A major focus of STM’s presentation will be its work for Malaysia. The company said it will showcase scale models of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Littoral Mission Ship Batch-2 corvettes, three of which are currently under construction in Istanbul. STM describes this project as Türkiye’s first corvette export to the Asia-Pacific region, giving the program strategic importance both for Malaysia and for the Turkish naval export portfolio.
STM will also exhibit its Multi-Purpose Support Ship design developed for Malaysia’s operational needs. Beyond that, the company plans to display several naval systems, including the STM500 small submarine, the STM NETA autonomous underwater vehicle, the TCG İSTANBUL national frigate, and the national fast attack craft concept. This lineup shows that STM is using DSA 2026 not only to promote a single export program, but to present a broad naval portfolio to the wider Asia-Pacific market. This last sentence is an inference based on STM’s announced exhibition set.
On the unmanned systems side, STM will bring the TOGAN surveillance UAV, the KARGU loitering munition, and the BOYGA munition-dropping UAV. STM says TOGAN is already used by three countries, while KARGU has been exported to more than 15 countries across four continents. That selection indicates the company wants to demonstrate that its reach in the region extends beyond warships and into tactical unmanned systems with proven export traction. This final sentence is an inference drawn from the systems STM chose to feature and the export claims in its official release.
STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz said the three LMS Batch-2 corvettes whose construction began last year are expected to be launched this year, and described DSA 2026 as a critical stop both for deepening the partnership with Malaysia and for opening new cooperation channels across Asia-Pacific. In broader terms, STM’s presence at the exhibition shows that Turkish defense industry companies are no longer participating in the region only as exhibitors, but increasingly as active contractors with ongoing major programs and exportable unmanned technologies. This final point is an inference based on STM’s stated launch timeline and project footprint in Malaysia.
