BREAKING NEWS
The PNS Khaibar, the second of four MİLGEM-class corvettes being built for the Pakistan Navy under the PN MİLGEM Project, has completed its live-fire trials with remarkable success. The program—launched through a 2020 agreement between Türkiye and Pakistan—continues to progress rapidly under ASFAT’s main contractor role. Two ships are being built at Istanbul Shipyard Command in Türkiye, while the other two are under construction at Karachi Shipyard (KSEW) in Pakistan, strengthening bilateral defense cooperation.
A key component of the project is HAVELSAN’s ADVENT Combat Management System and the FLEETSTAR Ship Data Distribution System, which provide the operational backbone of the MİLGEM platforms. ADVENT’s versatile integration capability played a crucial role in the precision demonstrated during the firing tests. Following the successful commissioning of the first ship, PNS Babur, in 2024, the PNS Khaibar has now also completed its critical performance evaluations and is preparing for its transfer to Karachi after activities with the Turkish Naval Forces.
During the live-fire trials, PNS Khaibar achieved direct hits across multiple target types. Its 76mm main gun precisely struck land targets during coastal bombardment tests, while the STOP 25mm remote-controlled stabilized weapon system repeated this performance with equally accurate results. These outcomes confirm the platform’s high level of technological maturity, integrated weapons compatibility, and operational reliability—key indicators of success in a major naval modernization program like PN MİLGEM.
Work on the third ship, PNS Badr, is progressing in Karachi, with initial sea trials expected to begin in December 2025, followed by harbor acceptance tests. Meanwhile, construction of the fourth and final ship, PNS Tariq, continues at KSEW Shipyard, with test phases projected to start by the end of 2026. Türkiye’s achievements in the MİLGEM program—both in design and integration—continue to strengthen its position as a leading exporter of advanced naval platforms.
