BREAKING NEWS
Otokar, one of Türkiye’s leading manufacturers of armored land vehicles, has expanded its well-known Cobra family with a newly developed mine-resistant variant of the Cobra II. First introduced to Otokar’s product lineup in 2013, the Cobra II 4x4 armored vehicle quickly became the next-generation successor of the widely used Cobra platform, operating not only in Türkiye but also in 15 countries worldwide. Compared to the original Cobra, the Cobra II delivers a larger interior volume and a higher payload capacity tailored to the demands of modern battlefield environments.
In response to evolving and intensifying threats, Otokar has taken the platform further by creating the Cobra II MRAP—its mine-resistant, ambush-protected configuration. This new variant is specifically engineered to offer superior protection against ballistic threats, mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), significantly enhancing the survivability of personnel deployed in high-risk zones. The Cobra II MRAP meets the growing requirement for vehicles capable of withstanding asymmetric threats seen in conflict regions.
A key feature of the MRAP version is its specially designed underbody mine shield. This structure reduces the destructive impact of mine and IED explosions, helping prevent casualties during operations. The vehicle maintains high mobility not only on stabilized roads but also in challenging off-road conditions. Additionally, its lower silhouette provides reduced detectability, an important advantage for missions requiring stealth and lower visual exposure.
Cobra II MRAP can transport up to 11 personnel and can be configured with either 3 or 5 doors based on user requirements, improving mission flexibility. With its robust protection, spacious interior and operational versatility, the Cobra II MRAP stands as a strong testament to Türkiye’s growing expertise in armored land systems and its expanding role in global defense markets.
