BREAKING NEWS
Norway has announced a new military aid package to boost Ukraine’s air defense capabilities. The Norwegian government will provide additional NASAMS air defense systems, valued at $30 million, directly from the inventory of the Norwegian Armed Forces. This approach will significantly shorten delivery times, ensuring the systems are deployed quickly to counter the expected surge of Russian kamikaze drone and cruise missile strikes during the winter months.
Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram emphasized that this support is critical for Ukraine’s defense against intensified Russian air attacks. Highlighting the growing need for advanced air defense solutions, Gram stated that the new NASAMS launchers and command units will be vital in saving civilian lives and protecting Ukraine’s infrastructure from further damage.
Previously, Norway supplied Ukraine with 8 NASAMS launchers and 4 command-and-control units. Under the latest decision, Norway will send an additional 8 launchers and 4 command units, effectively doubling Ukraine’s operational NASAMS capacity.
Minister Gram also underscored the high accuracy of NASAMS systems, stressing the importance of continuing such military deliveries to Ukraine. This move further demonstrates Western allies’ determination to maintain strong military support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict.
