The Tolga Close-In Air Defense System, developed by Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), has drawn significant international attention after a comprehensive live-fire demonstration. Military and diplomatic delegations from 14 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Central Asia and Africa, including the United States, France and Poland, observed the system during its second official live-fire testing program. The event underscored Tolga’s capability to address modern aerial threats with precision and speed.
Designed to protect ground forces, critical infrastructures, mobile convoys, military bases and naval platforms, Tolga stands out as a versatile and modular defense solution. During the testing program, the system successfully engaged and neutralized hostile drones across eight different operational scenarios, proving its readiness for multidimensional battlefield environments.
In the soft-kill scenario, a hostile drone positioned approximately 3 kilometers away was detected by a mobile radar station and subsequently rendered ineffective through a jammer system. This demonstration highlighted Tolga’s strong electronic warfare capabilities and its ability to counter unmanned aerial threats without kinetic engagement.
The hard-kill tests focused on kinetic interception. Tolga’s integrated weapons—two fixed 12.7 mm machine guns, a vehicle-mounted rotary 12.7 mm gun, and a 20 mm system—successfully destroyed rotary-wing and fixed-wing drones using MKE’s newly developed anti-drone ammunition. These results showcased the system’s layered defense capability combining precision firepower with rapid threat detection.
Following the live-fire demonstrations, foreign delegations examined Tolga’s components up close, including its radar architecture, weapon modules and electronic warfare systems. Comprehensive technical briefings were provided by MKE engineers, reinforcing Türkiye’s growing reputation as a global defense technology supplier and highlighting Tolga’s promising export potential.
