BREAKING NEWS
Turkey is set to launch Mavi Vatan-2025 (Blue Homeland-2025), one of its largest and most comprehensive naval exercises, tomorrow across the Black Sea, Aegean Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean. During a press briefing at the Naval Warfare Center Command in Gölcük, senior naval officers shared details about the scope and objectives of the exercise, which aims to enhance the operational readiness and joint coordination of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Led by the Turkish Naval Forces Command, the exercise will test the command-and-control capabilities of fleet units under multi-threat scenarios. A total of 90 ships, 50 air assets, and 20,000 personnel will participate, including elements from the Turkish Land Forces, Air Forces, and Coast Guard Command. The exercise’s live phase will begin on January 6, as naval units depart their home bases. Preparatory activities will follow on January 7–8, while the Distinguished Observer Day is scheduled for January 9 in Aksaz, Marmaris. The final stage, involving high-threat combat operations, will take place from January 14–16.
A key highlight of Mavi Vatan-2025 will be the participation of TCG Oruçreis, the first modernized frigate from the Barbaros-class Mid-Life Upgrade Project. The exercise will feature surface and air defense firings, anti-submarine torpedo drills, and electronic warfare simulations. The Pelikan Electronic Warfare Simulator, deployed in the Finike region, will be used for advanced EW training and chaff deployment.
In addition to the operational training, the exercise will also feature an active media component. Real press coverage will be coordinated by the Naval Forces General Secretariat, while simulated media activities will be managed by the Exercise Control Center through the Turkish Armed Forces’ internal network.
Through Mavi Vatan-2025, the Turkish Navy once again demonstrates its determination and readiness to safeguard Turkey’s maritime interests and maintain a strong presence in regional and international waters.
