BREAKING NEWS
Hydraulic systems are among the most critical components that enable modern aircraft to operate safely, precisely, and reliably. From large commercial airliners to supersonic fighter jets, pilots can control heavy structures such as control surfaces, landing gear, and rudders with minimal effort thanks to hydraulic power. For this reason, hydraulic systems are often described in the aviation sector as the “heart and vascular system” of an aircraft.
Türkiye has recently accelerated its localization and nationalization policies in the defense and aviation sectors, aiming to reduce external dependency and move higher in global supply chains. Within this strategic transformation, significant achievements have been made in platform development, subsystem production, engine technologies, and maintenance and repair capabilities. Localization of hydraulic pumps, reservoirs, actuators, valves, accumulators, and manifolds represents not only a technological breakthrough but also a strategic shield against embargoes and export restrictions.
Operating in this critical field, IDAK Havacılık develops hydraulic equipment and integrated systems for aircraft, helicopters, and aircraft engines in full compliance with international aviation standards. The company focuses particularly on ATA 29 Hydraulic Power Packages, supporting national platforms while also targeting global markets. Company officials emphasize that aviation hydraulic systems require far higher levels of engineering, testing, and qualification compared to industrial hydraulic products, leaving no room for chance or inexperienced teams.
As part of the localization effort, hydraulic systems are being developed for major national platforms such as KAAN, HÜRJET, and HÜRKUŞ. At the same time, export activities are gaining momentum, demonstrating that Türkiye is no longer only a consumer but also a supplier in the global aviation industry. The planned establishment of a Hydraulic Center of Excellence will enable design, production, assembly, and testing processes to be carried out under one roof, further strengthening national capabilities.
With these initiatives, Türkiye is positioning itself as a competitive and reliable player in aviation hydraulic systems, transforming critical subsystems into high-value export products while reinforcing the sustainability of its defense and aerospace ecosystem.
