BREAKING NEWS
ASPİLSAN Enerji, known for developing battery and energy solutions for the Turkish Armed Forces, is entering a new export-driven growth phase by extending its capabilities into civilian markets. The company has begun exporting portable suitcase-type, bag-type, and rack-type energy storage products, as well as battery cells, electrodes, and complete battery solutions, to the United States, South Korea, Romania, and various European countries. This development shows that ASPİLSAN is no longer only a supplier to Türkiye’s domestic defense ecosystem, but is also becoming a more visible player in the global energy technologies market.
At the center of this progress is the company’s Lithium-Ion Battery Production Facility in Kayseri. Established in 2022 with an investment of around 1.5 billion Turkish lira, the plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 21 million cylindrical lithium-ion cells. With this facility, ASPİLSAN has built a strong industrial base capable of supporting both defense and civilian energy needs. The company’s environmentally friendly battery technologies are also helping expand its role in renewable energy and clean energy markets.
One of the most notable recent export steps came through South Korea. ASPİLSAN signed an agreement with South Korean company Top Material that includes both technology transfer and export cooperation. Through this partnership, battery cells and electrode products developed in ASPİLSAN’s own facilities are being positioned as high-value exports from Türkiye. This is especially significant because it reflects a model in which ASPİLSAN is not just receiving technology, but also contributing to international supply chains and exporting outputs to third markets.
The company’s move into civilian energy storage is also being supported by its portable product family developed for field use, disaster response, and mobile power requirements. These systems demonstrate how defense-origin technology can be adapted into commercial solutions with wider practical use. In a period when energy security, resilience, and independent supply chains are becoming increasingly important, ASPİLSAN appears to be building a meaningful competitive position through domestic production and export-oriented expansion.
Looking ahead, ASPİLSAN is expected to benefit further from growing demand among NATO and Western markets for non-Chinese battery and energy storage supply chains. Company leadership has emphasized that exports have already started in the form of semi-finished electrodes, battery cells, and end-user battery products. This shows that ASPİLSAN is aiming to convert its defense-industrial know-how into broader economic value in the fields of energy security, green transition, and advanced technology exports.
