BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN, one of Turkey’s leading defense industry companies, has successfully integrated its MİLKAR-5A5 Active/Passive Convoy Protection System into Kirpi mine-resistant armored vehicles in the Land Forces Command inventory. Following successful acceptance inspections and performance tests, the system is now officially part of the Turkish Armed Forces, enhancing their operational strength and protection capacity.
Developed entirely with national resources, the MİLKAR-5A5 stands out with both active and reactive jamming capabilities. It can detect hostile signals within an exceptionally short period of time and direct the majority of its output power toward these frequencies, enabling effective jamming over longer distances. Thanks to its reactive jamming algorithm, the system achieves superior effectiveness with significantly lower RF power compared to conventional active jammers.
One of the system’s most important features is its distinction as the first and only reactive jamming/blinding system in the Turkish Armed Forces inventory, and among the few of its kind worldwide. According to available studies, there is no other system recorded in the literature capable of detecting and reacting to threats in such a short timeframe, giving the Turkish Armed Forces a remarkable advantage in electronic warfare.
The project traces back to a 2007 contract for the procurement of a prototype Radio Frequency Active/Passive Jamming System. The first prototype, MİLKAR-5A3, was delivered to the Land Forces Command in 2010. Following field trials and feasibility studies, the improved MİLKAR-5A5 system entered serial production and was integrated into Kirpi vehicles. Key components such as wideband tuners, high-speed receiver structures, DDS-based signal generation units, and advanced jamming algorithms were all developed domestically.
This milestone highlights ASELSAN’s technological achievements in electronic warfare and reinforces the competitiveness of Turkey’s defense industry on a global scale.
