BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN, one of Türkiye’s leading defense industry companies, is standing out not only for its advanced technology solutions but also for its strong performance in environmental sustainability and zero waste practices. By focusing on waste prevention, efficient resource use, minimizing waste generation, and maximizing recycling and recovery, the company has built a comprehensive sustainability approach that extends beyond environmental policy into corporate governance, operational efficiency, and social awareness. This broader vision has helped position ASELSAN as a model organization in the field of sustainable industrial transformation.
The company’s 50th anniversary in 2025 marked an important milestone in this area. Thanks to its high performance in Environmental, Social, and Governance criteria, ASELSAN entered Borsa Istanbul’s BIST Sustainability 25 Index in first place. This achievement reflected not only financial strength but also the company’s commitment to responsible growth and environmental stewardship. ASELSAN’s consistent implementation of the roadmap created under its 2050 net-zero emissions target, first announced in 2021, has been one of the key drivers behind this success.
ASELSAN’s environmental investments have also produced concrete and measurable results. Renewable energy systems commissioned at the Gölbaşı Technology Base in 2024 generated approximately 1.808 million kWh of renewable energy. In parallel, the company doubled the amount of green space per employee across all of its technology campuses and achieved water savings of 5,250 tons in 2025 alone. ASELSAN has also adopted a structured approach to water management. After beginning CDP Water reporting in 2021, the company accelerated efforts to reduce water consumption and improve water recycling. The adoption of the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System Standard further underlined the company’s growing institutional capability in this field.
ASELSAN’s climate-focused approach also extends to supply chain management. The company has maintained a leadership position for years by receiving an “A” score from CDP for supply chain climate change management. Earlier this March, ASELSAN was once again included in the Supplier Engagement Assessment A List, confirming that its sustainability strategy is embedded not only in its internal operations but also across its wider supplier ecosystem. In a sector such as defense, where production intensity and industrial complexity are high, such supply chain engagement carries major strategic significance for reducing environmental impact at scale.
The company’s sustainability vision is not limited to infrastructure and resource efficiency. ASELSAN is also working to create social awareness and a stronger culture of environmental responsibility. Through its Zero Waste Project and the Eco School initiatives implemented in the kindergartens and daycare centers within the company, ASELSAN aims to promote environmental consciousness among younger generations as well. In its 50th year, the company also launched the “A Future That Upcycles Forward” project, combining sustainability strategy with art to widen public awareness and institutional engagement. Under the aselsaneXt program and the aBusiness umbrella, ASELSAN has built a roadmap containing short-, medium-, and long-term targets to support its 2050 net-zero emissions ambition.
ASELSAN is also extending its energy efficiency philosophy to new construction projects. By adopting a design approach centered on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly structures capable of generating their own power, the company earned a LEED certification in 2025 for its Istanbul Teknopark building. This achievement further reinforced ASELSAN’s position as a company capable of combining high-technology defense production with sustainable development principles. Overall, the company’s latest performance offers a compelling example of how environmental responsibility and advanced industrial capability can progress together in the modern defense industry.
